Our current submissions window is now open until October 31st. We're looking for fiction between 100-3000 words for Issue 12. There is no theme.
To submit, please read the guidelines here.
We are looking to expand the team here at The Nottingham Review and the following volunteer positions are available:
This role involves reading and assessing anonymous submissions during each submissions window. You should have a love of short fiction and be familiar with the kind of work we publish (see our archive for past issues if you're unfamiliar with this). It might be helpful if you already have some experience with Submittable, but this isn't necessary as full instructions will be given. You can dedicate as much or as little time as you like to this role and you will not be required to read every submission we receive, but you should preferably be able to spend at least a couple of hours reading per week in total during each two month submissions period. There are several First Reader positions available. (Please note: First Readers will be unable to submit their own writing to us for consideration.)
This role will be responsible for conducting interviews (exact number to be discussed, but probably at least 5-6 per year) for publication both in our print issue and online. Note: this won't be talking about writing with writers. Everywhere else does that, and those interviews can often be a little samey. We're looking for someone to interview people from all walks of life who have something interesting to talk about. We're open to whatever ideas you have to bring to this.
This role will be responsible for reviewing contemporary novels, short story collections and anthologies for publication both in our print issue and online (exact number of reviews and word count to be discussed, but probably at least 8-10 per year). You should be familiar with the kind of work we publish (see our archive for past issues if you're unfamiliar with this) and ideally have some experience of reviewing fiction and able to provide a link to previous work in this area (includes personal blog or review websites).
Social Media Manager
This role involves assisting us to promote The Nottingham Review content and contributors online. Requires handling the Twitter account and checking in at least several times per week. This role is also available to First Readers, so please state in the application form if you're interested in both.
To apply for any of the above positions, please fill out the form here.
Please email us at email@example.com if you have any questions.
Application deadline: Friday 31st August 2018.
Issue 11 is now available to order here. This is our first issue in print and is priced only £3 including free UK delivery! (Additional charges for international delivery).
Printed on 100% recycled paper, A5, 52pp
